Not Substances, but Phases不是物质,而是运动状态

The Chinese word 行 (xíng) means "to move" or "to go." The Five Elements are not five materials sitting in jars; they are five modes of energy in motion. Wood is the force of growth and expansion. Fire is the force of radiation and transformation. Earth is the force of stabilization. Metal is the force of contraction and refinement. Water is the force of descent and storage. Everything in a Qimen chart, every palace, door, star, stem, and deity, belongs to one of these five phases. This engine of generation and control is one half of why Qimen works at all.

"行"这个字的本义是"走"和"运动"。五行并非装在瓶子里的五种物质,而是五种运动中的能量模式。是生长与扩张的力量。是辐射与转化的力量。是稳固与承载的力量。是收敛与精炼的力量。是下行与储藏的力量。奇门盘中的每一个要素(宫、门、星、干、神)都归属于这五种状态之一。这套生克引擎,正是奇门为什么能预测的核心之一。

Because they are phases of change rather than inert materials, they interact. Two elements meeting in the same palace is never neutral: one is always generating, draining, overcoming, or being overcome by the other. These relationships are the engine of every Qimen reading.

因为它们是变化的状态而非惰性物质,所以它们会互动。两个五行元素出现在同一宫位,永远不是各不相干:一方总是在生、泄、克或被克。这些关系正是每一次奇门解读的核心引擎。

The Generating Cycle — 相生相生循环——母子之链

In the generating cycle, each element nourishes the next like a parent feeding a child. The sequence never breaks:

在相生循环中,每种五行像母亲哺育孩子一样滋养下一行。这个序列永不断裂:

Wood Fire Earth Metal Water Wood
Wood feeds Fire → Fire produces Earth (ash) → Earth yields Metal (ore) → Metal collects Water (condensation) → Water nourishes Wood → and the cycle repeats.木生火 → 火生土(灰烬)→ 土生金(矿石)→ 金生水(凝结)→ 水生木 → 循环不息。

In a chart, when one element generates another, the source is called the parent (母) and the receiver is the child (子). This is support, but it costs the parent energy. A Wood door generating a Fire star is helping the star shine, yet slowly draining itself in the process. Generation is never free.

在盘面中,当一行生另一行时,源头称为,接收者称为。这是支持,但要消耗母方的能量。属木的门去生属火的星,是在帮那颗星发光,自己却在慢慢耗损。相生从来不是无代价的。

Practical Meaning实战含义

When the "use spirit" (用神) in your chart is being generated by surrounding elements, that is a strong positive signal: resources are flowing toward the thing you asked about. When the use spirit is generating others, it is giving away energy, a sign of drain or over-commitment.

当盘中的用神被周围元素所生时,这是一个强烈的正面信号:资源正在流向你问的那件事。当用神去生别人时,它在往外输出能量,多半意味着消耗或过度付出。

The Overcoming Cycle — 相克相克循环——制约之链

The overcoming cycle is the system of checks and balances. Each element restrains one other:

相克循环是制衡系统。每种五行克制另一行:

Wood Earth Water Fire Metal Wood
Wood parts Earth (roots) → Earth dams Water → Water quenches Fire → Fire melts Metal → Metal chops Wood → and so on.木克土(根系穿透)→ 土克水(堤坝阻拦)→ 水克火(浇灭)→ 火克金(熔化)→ 金克木(斧砍)→ 循环不止。

Overcoming is not always bad. A controlled 克 ("ke") can mean discipline, structure, or healthy pressure, the way a mentor pushes a student. It only becomes harmful when the overcoming element is much stronger than the one being restrained: that is when 克 becomes destruction rather than correction.

克并不总是坏事。适度的克意味着纪律、框架或健康的压力,就像导师推着学生进步。只有当克方远强于被克方时,克才会从纠正变成摧毁。

There is also a counter-overcoming (反克) case: if the element being "overcome" is far stronger than its attacker, the attacker bounces off and hurts itself. A tiny Metal axe swung at an ancient tree snaps the blade; the Wood is too strong to be cut. This dynamic appears regularly in charts and reverses the expected power flow.

还有一种反克的情况:如果被克方远强于克方,攻击者反而伤到自己。一把小斧头砍向参天大树,刃口反断:木气太旺,金克不动。这种动态在盘面中经常出现,会逆转预期的力量走向。

Seasonal Strength — 旺相休囚死旺相休囚死——季节赋予的力量

The five elements are not equally strong year-round. Each element peaks in its own season and weakens when its season passes. Classical theory assigns five states of strength:

五行的力量并非全年恒定。每种五行在自己对应的季节最强,过季则衰。古典理论将强弱分为五种状态:

Five States五种状态

旺 Thriving: in its own season; peak power.
相 Supported: the element that generates it is in season; nourished and strong.
休 Resting: the element it generates is in season; having passed on its energy, now resting.
囚 Imprisoned: the element it overcomes is in season; energy wasted trying to control a strong opponent.
死 Dead: overcome by the season's element; completely powerless.

:当令之行与自身同类;力量巅峰。
:生我之行当令;得滋养而强。
:我生之行当令;能量已传出,进入休息。
:我克之行当令;耗力去制约强旺之行,如同被困。
:克我之行当令;受制无力,最为衰弱。

Summer 夏
Late summer 长夏长夏(四季月)
Autumn 秋
Winter 冬
旺 Thriving · 相 Supported · 休 Resting · 囚 Imprisoned · 死 Dead. Late summer (长夏) covers the 18-day transition period at the end of each season when Earth takes the throne.旺·相·休·囚·死。长夏(四季月末各18天)是土行当令的过渡期。
Nine Stars Are Different九星旺衰不同

The table above shows the standard five-element seasonal cycle used for palaces, doors, and stems. However, the Nine Stars use a different system: 旺相休囚废 (废 "waste" replaces 死 "dead"), and the meanings shift. For stars, 旺 means the star is generating the palace below it (maximum influence); 相 means same element (reinforcing); 休 means the star overcomes the palace element (resting, no need to act); 废 means the parent element feeds the star (passive, useless); 囚 means the palace overcomes the star (imprisoned). This distinction comes from the classical verse: "废于父母休于财,囚于鬼兮真不妄" (《烟波钓叟歌》).

上表是宫、门、天干通用的标准五行旺衰。但九星使用不同的体系:旺相休囚废(以"废"代"死"),含义也不同。对九星而言,旺=星生宫(影响力最大);相=与宫同行(壮大声势);休=星克宫(宫旺无需作用,可以休息);废=宫生星(父母生我,反成废物);囚=宫克星(被囚无法发挥)。此说出自《烟波钓叟歌》:"废于父母休于财,囚于鬼兮真不妄。"

This is why two charts cast on different dates with identical symbols can produce opposite readings. A Metal star that is 旺 thriving in autumn is a force multiplier; the same star 死 dead in summer is barely functional. Seasonal strength is not a modifier you add at the end; it is the first filter every classical reader applies.

这就是为什么不同日期起的两张盘即使符号相同,解读也可能截然相反。一颗属金的星在秋季时是力量倍增器;同一颗星在夏季时几乎无法发挥作用。旺衰不是最后补一笔的修饰,而是传统读盘人下手的第一道过滤。

Five Elements Across Qimen Components五行在奇门盘面中的分布

Every structural element in a Qimen chart has a fixed five-element assignment. Here is the complete map:

奇门盘中的每个结构要素都有固定的五行属性。以下是完整对照表:

Element五行Palaces宫位Doors八门Stars九星
木 Wood3rd (震), 4th (巽)Injury 伤, Block 杜伤门、杜门Charge Dash Star, Advisor Support Star天冲、天辅
火 Fire9th (离)Scenery 景景门Brilliance Hero Star天英
土 Earth2nd (坤), 5th (中), 8th (艮)Death 死, Chief 禽, Life 生死门、禽(中)、生门Problem Ren Star, Chief Qin Star, Steady Task Star天芮、天禽、天任
金 Metal6th (乾), 7th (兑)Open 开, Fright 惊开门、惊门Doctor Heart Star, Pillar Star天心、天柱
水 Water1st (坎)Rest 休休门Bandit Canopy Star天蓬
Every door and star inherits its element from its home palace. The Heavenly Stems (天干) also carry five-element assignments: 甲乙=Wood, 丙丁=Fire, 戊己=Earth, 庚辛=Metal, 壬癸=Water.每个门和星都从其原始宫位继承五行。十天干也有五行属性:甲乙=木,丙丁=火,戊己=土,庚辛=金,壬癸=水。

This table is the bridge between abstract theory and live chart reading. When you see Rest Door (Rest door, Water) land in the 9th palace (Fire), you immediately know: Water overcomes Fire, the door is suppressing its host palace. That single observation already tells you something about the tension in that position before you read any other layer.

这张表是从抽象理论到实战解盘的桥梁。当你看到休门(水)落入离九宫(火),你立刻知道:水克火,门在压制宫位。仅凭这一个观察,你在解读其他层次之前就已经知道这个位置存在张力。

Reading the Relationships — the Five Outcomes解读五行关系——五种结局

When two components meet in a palace, their five-element relationship falls into one of five patterns. Every Qimen judgment ultimately reduces to checking which pattern applies:

当两个要素相遇在一个宫位中,它们的五行关系会落入五种模式之一。每一次奇门判断最终都归结为检查适用的是哪种模式:

1. A generates B (A 生 B): A supports and strengthens B, but drains itself. Positive for B, costly for A.
2. B generates A (B 生 A): A receives support. Positive for A.
3. A overcomes B (A 克 B): A restrains or pressures B. A dominates; B is suppressed.
4. B overcomes A (B 克 A): A is under pressure. Negative for A unless A is much stronger (counter-overcoming).
5. A and B are the same element: mutual reinforcement. Both strengthen each other, called same-element (bǐhé), "comparable harmony."

1. A 生 B:A 支持并增强 B,但消耗自身。对 B 有利,对 A 有代价。
2. B 生 A:A 获得支持。对 A 有利。
3. A 克 B:A 制约或施压于 B。A 占主导;B 受压。
4. B 克 A:A 受到压力。对 A 不利,除非 A 远强于 B(反克)。
5. A 与 B 同行:互相增强,双方都变强,称为比和

"Learn the five elements and you learn the grammar.
Everything else in Qimen is vocabulary."
"学会五行就学会了语法。
奇门中其他的一切都只是词汇。"

— Classical teaching saying——传统教学格言

In practice, reading a palace means running this check multiple times: door vs. palace, star vs. palace, heaven stem vs. earth stem, door vs. star, and so on. Each pair tells a micro-story, and the aggregate of those stories is the reading. Five elements are the thread that stitches every layer together.

实际解盘时,读一个宫位意味着多次运行这种检查:门与宫、星与宫、天干与地干、门与星,等等。每一对讲述一个微观故事,这些故事的总和就是解读结果。五行就是把每一层缝合在一起的那根线。

How QimenIt Uses ThisQimenIt 如何运用五行

When QimenIt reads your chart, the very first thing it checks is the five-element relationship between your use spirit and its surrounding components: generation, overcoming, seasonal strength, and counter-overcoming. This is why it can say "the outlook is positive" even when a technically "inauspicious" element is present: the five-element dynamics may be working in your favor.

QimenIt 为你读盘时,首先检查的就是用神与周围要素之间的五行关系:生克、旺衰、反克。这就是为什么盘里明明有"凶"的元素,它仍可能告诉你"前景积极",因为五行的生克可能正好帮着你。
