Why Charts Need an Axis为什么盘需要轴心

A cast chart contains roughly forty active symbols. Nobody reads them all with equal weight, not a master, not an algorithm. The classical solution is triage: before touching any layer, locate two anchors that organize everything else. The Duty Chief tells you where power currently sits on the chart. The Hour Stem tells you where your question lives. Draw a line between those two palaces and you have the axis of the reading; the rest of the grid becomes context.

The Duty Chief: Where Power Sits值符：权力所在

Time in Qimen is organized into ten-hour cycles (旬), and each cycle has a commanding officer: the star carrying the cycle's hidden leader is on duty for those hours. That star, whichever of the Nine Stars it happens to be, becomes the Duty Chief star, and the chief of the Eight Deities, also named Duty Chief, rides with it. So the term has a dual identity, and both point at the same palace:

In practice, the Duty Chief's palace answers a recurring question: "who or what holds the power in this situation, and what condition is it in?" In a negotiation chart it is usually the other side's decision-maker; in a career chart, the employer; in a lawsuit, the court. A well-seated Duty Chief that supports your palace means the powerful party is with you. A hostile one warns you where the resistance will come from.

实践中，值符宫回答的是一个反复出现的问题："这件事里谁掌握着权力，它现在的状态如何？"谈判盘中它通常是对方的拍板人；事业盘中是雇主；官司盘中是法院。值符落宫得地且生你的宫，意味着强势一方站在你这边；值符克你，则预警了阻力将从何而来。

The Hour Stem: Where Your Matter Lives时干：所问之事

The second anchor is simpler to define and subtler to use. The hour you asked your question has its own heavenly stem, and that stem sits somewhere on the chart. Classical practice reads the palace holding the hour stem as the matter itself: the deal, the offer, the trip, the conversation you are asking about. The logic is elegant: the hour is when the question entered the world, so the hour's stem carries the question's face.

第二个锚点定义更简单，用法却更微妙。你提问的那个时辰有自己的天干，这个干落在盘面的某个宫里。经典读法把时干落宫读作所问之事本身：你问的那笔交易、那个 offer、那次出行、那场谈话。逻辑很优雅：时辰是问题降生于世的时刻，所以时辰的天干就带着问题的面孔。

This is also why the hour stem shape-shifts across question types. In a relationship chart it wears the other person's face; in a deal it is the deal; in a search for something lost it marks the thing itself. Paired with the day stem (Day Stem), which is always you, it forms the second great axis of the chart: you versus your matter.

Reading the Axis Together轴心合读

With both anchors located, the reading becomes a relationship question between two palaces. Four patterns cover most charts you will ever meet:

Notice what the axis does not do: it doesn't read the doors, the seasonal strength, or the fine grain of the stems. The axis is triage, not the verdict. It tells you where to look and what the power dynamics are. The layered reading still happens inside the palaces it points to.

轴心不做什么，同样要紧：它不读门、不看旺衰、不管天干的细节。轴心是分诊，不是判决，它告诉你该看哪里、力量对比如何。层层深入的解读仍然发生在它指向的那些宫里。

Common Mistakes常见误区

Mistaking the Duty Chief for yourself. Some schools use Duty Chief as the querent in specific chart types, but in question-based readings you are the day stem (Day Stem). Read the Duty Chief as authority first. The reading changes completely if you confuse the two.
Forgetting the Duty Chief moves in pairs. The duty star has a partner: the duty door (Duty Messenger Door), which governs how events unfold in time. A full axis reading glances at both.
Treating the axis as the whole reading. The axis picks the palaces; the four layers still decide what those palaces say. Anchors without layers produce fast, shallow, confident errors.

把值符当成自己。某些流派在特定盘型中以值符代表问事人，但在事目占中，你是日干。请先把值符读作权威。两者混淆，整个解读都会走样。
忘记值符成对行动。值符星有一个搭档：值使门，掌管事情在时间中的展开方式。完整的轴心解读会两者都看一眼。
把轴心当成全部解读。轴心负责选宫，四层结构才决定这些宫说了什么。只有锚点没有层次，产出的是又快又浅又自信的错误。
